Ben Shapiro Promoted to Fire Chief
The City of Montgomery is proud to announce Assistant Fire Chief Ben Shapiro’s promotion to Fire Chief. Ben started his fire and EMS career in 1985 with the Sycamore-Montgomery Life Squad and the Montgomery Community Fire Department.
“Serving the City of Montgomery has been an incredible privilege,” said Ben. “The department has a strong tradition of dedication and professionalism, and I am honored to continue that legacy. As we move forward as an all-career fire department, my goal is to build upon our strengths, enhance training and development, and ensure we provide the highest level of service to our community.”
Ben started as a volunteer while studying business management at the University of Cincinnati. Ben worked part-time with the private company until they split up in 1993. He continued to work part-time for the City of Montgomery while employed full-time with the City of Monroe from 1996-1998. In 1998, Ben took a full-time position with the City of Montgomery. In 2001, he was promoted to Lieutenant, and in 2014, he was promoted to Assistant Chief.
Chief Shapiro holds numerous certifications, including Firefighter II, Paramedic, Fire Instructor, BLS Instructor, CPS Instructor, and Advanced Fire Investigator.
“Montgomery is more than just a city; it’s a family, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” said Ben.
