In 2023 the City of Montgomery was awarded federal funding to significantly enhance the security and traffic camera system in the City. Currently, traffic cameras are installed at major intersections and several City facilities. These cameras have been instrumental in addressing property crimes and determining fault in traffic crashes. The new Federal grant provides funds to upgrade and supplement cameras at most signalized intersections, City owned facilities, and outdoor locations within our parks and rental lodges. Additionally, this system updates access control at City Hall, the Safety Center, Public Works, and rental facilities. The new access control system will remove the cumbersome process of issuing keys, thus streamlining the rental process and allowing authorized users access via a phone app, supplied code, or even remotely by City personnel.
It is important to note that the new system does not utilize speed cameras or red light cameras.
