The City of Montgomery Beautification and Tree Commission has awarded the summer 2024 Seasons of Beauty award to Keith and Denise Willike. The home’s striking front yard was bursting with blooms and greens, even during one of the driest summers on record.
The Willike yard was beautifully manicured with lush, green, and finely cut grass, leading to a meticulously landscaped hedge accenting the front sidewalk. Shades of red and pink were abundant on the Panicle hydrangeas, roses, ninebark, spirea, and sun patients, which are perfect for the summer heat and are deer resistant. Mature trees accented both sides of this home and included an American Hornbeam and flowering dogwood. In addition, weeping cherry and dwarf crabapple trees perfectly flanked the stone archway and lanterned entrance to the front door of this magnificent property.
The Seasons of Beauty award recognizes homes and businesses in Montgomery with special front yards, window boxes, and planters that peak during certain seasons as well as those homes and businesses with decorative features that celebrate the “season” or holiday.
Nominate your home or a neighbor’s by emailing a photo and short description to aaronkellenberger@gmail.com. The fall award winner will be selected in October and announced in next month’s Bulletin.
