Special Brush Pick-Up Notice!
Beginning Monday, October 7, Public Works will begin a city-wide sweep to collect all limbs, etc., left over from Hurricane Helene. They will begin with the Friday route and continue their efforts until the entire city has been covered. We are already in our Fall Brush Pick-Up schedule, with today’s route being Thursday. Public Works staff will work today and this week to complete the “normal” Thursday schedule. The Thursday route will also be included in the Special Brush Pick-Up beginning next week.

Teddy, Montgomery’s Top Dog!

2024 Top Dog - Teddy with family

Residents of all ages submitted their information and pictures of their dog to the Top Dog Contest this summer letting us know how much their pooch means to them and why they should be named Top Dog!

And, the winner is…TEDDY!

This adorable 2-year-old Poochon, a Poodle Bishon Friseé Mix, was entered by resident Cindy Jarnicki. We thought Teddy and Cindy showed a true connection showing loyalty, love and affection toward each other.

According to Cindy Jarnicki, there was a reason she named him Teddy. When she first met him at 12 weeks old, he is like a warm cuddly teddy bear which is a wonderful feeling. Everyone he meets agrees that his name fits him perfectly with his adorable teddy bear appearance.

Cindy lost her husband, Oscar, in January 2021, and a few months later lost her sweet 12-year-old Cockapoo, Sophie, which left a huge void in her life until her little guy Teddy entered her world! Teddy has been a blessing not only to her but her two grandsons, many friends and neighbors and to numerous residents in our wonderful community of Montgomery. Teddy’s neighbors planned a birthday party for Teddy, Teddy has been out on Halloween with the neighbors and has been photographed with Sycamore cheerleaders. It is clear Teddy brings happiness to other people and brings people together.

A bench which Cindy donated to the City of Montgomery in memory of her late husband, Oscar, is located along the walking/biking trail along Weller Road and it is a regular stop on her daily walk with Teddy. Cindy has found it be to be a perfect place not only for Cindy to meet and chat with other residents but is a relaxing resting spot where Teddy has made many new friends as well due to his outgoing, friendly, and playful personality!

Teddy is so loving and loyal to Cindy and gives her much warmth and affection to everyone he comes into contact with!

Congratulations Teddy and Cindy! It is our pleasure to have Teddy as Montgomery’s Top Dog!
